As a Deer’s Leap Retreat wedding photographer, it’s always a pleasure to capture weddings at one of Devon’s most unique and relaxed countryside venues. Surrounded by woodland and open space, it’s a venue that allows couples to create a wedding day that feels completely personal.
Nicola and Colin’s wedding was exactly that, full of energy, surprises and incredible moments from start to finish.

A Wedding Full of Familiar Faces
Back in 2015, I photographed Louise and James’s wedding, where Nicola was a bridesmaid and Colin was one of the groomsmen.
It was at that wedding that they first met, so it was really special to be there years later, capturing their own wedding day. Seeing so many familiar faces again made the whole day feel even more personal.

A Beautiful Start in Devon
Myself and videographer Harrison Dowling travelled down from Bristol and were greeted by a beautiful sunrise, the perfect start to the day.
Deer’s Leap Retreat is such a well thought-out venue. Built around a family farmhouse, every detail has been carefully considered to make the day flow effortlessly for both the couple and their guests.

Ceremony with a Twist
Nicola and Colin’s wedding was full of surprises, starting with the ceremony.
In true Deer’s Leap style, they added their own personality to the day, including a live mariachi band, which created an incredible atmosphere and made the ceremony completely unforgettable.

Tequila Limbo & Reception Celebrations
After the ceremony, the celebrations continued with one of the most unique moments of the day, a tequila limbo queue leading guests into the reception.
It was such a fun and memorable way to transition into the next part of the day, and a perfect example of how relaxed and creative weddings at Deer’s Leap can be.
Guests spent the rest of the day enjoying the setting, with plenty of laughter, music and great energy throughout.
