As an Old Down Estate wedding photographer, it’s always exciting to capture weddings at such a beautiful venue just outside Bristol. With its manor house, surrounding countryside and far-reaching views, it offers a perfect setting for a relaxed and elegant wedding day.

A Relaxed Start to the Day
This was my first time photographing a wedding at the Manor at Old Down Estate, and I was really looking forward to capturing Emily and Victor’s day here.
I first met them for a coffee around a year before the wedding, and from that first meeting, I knew it was going to be a great fit. They both had such a fun and relaxed approach, which really came through on the day.

Groom Preparations at Old Down Estate
I started the day with Victor and his groomsmen at the venue. Victor was far from camera-shy, which made for some great moments as we captured a mix of relaxed and more playful photographs.
Along with his father and groomsmen, we spent some time walking around the grounds, taking advantage of the setting for some natural and candid images.

Bridal Preparations in the Manor House
Meanwhile, Emily was getting ready upstairs in the manor house with her bridesmaids.
The atmosphere was relaxed and full of excitement as the morning unfolded. One of the great things about Old Down Estate is how everything flows — Emily was able to walk straight down to the ceremony room, keeping the day simple and stress-free.

The ceremony took place inside the manor house, a beautiful space filled with natural light.
It’s a perfect setting for a wedding ceremony, creating a clean and elegant backdrop while still feeling warm and intimate.

Drinks Reception & Couple Portraits
After the ceremony, guests headed outside for drinks and canapés, making the most of the sunshine.
We kept family photographs relaxed and efficient before taking a short walk around the grounds for some couple portraits. Old Down Estate offers a variety of backdrops, and it’s always great to make the most of the surrounding landscape without taking couples away from their guests for too long.

Sunset Views & Evening Celebrations
As the evening approached, the sunset brought some incredible light across the landscape. We stepped outside briefly for a few more couple portraits, with views stretching for miles — even out towards the Severn Crossing.
The celebrations then continued into the evening, with a great atmosphere as everyone came together to enjoy the rest of the day.
