Somerset Wedding Photographer


As a Somerset wedding photographer, it’s always a pleasure to capture weddings in villages like Batcombe, a place that perfectly reflects the charm of the Somerset countryside. With its historic church, rolling landscapes and close-knit feel, it’s an ideal setting for a relaxed and personal wedding day.


Alice and Chris’s December wedding was a brilliant example of that.



Bridal Preparations in Batcombe


The morning began at Alice’s parents’ home, where she was getting ready with her bridesmaids. The house was bright and spacious, filled with natural light, perfect for those final moments of preparation.


It was a calm and happy atmosphere as hair and makeup were finished, and I captured a mix of relaxed, natural moments along with a few detail photographs before everyone made their way to the church. Alice travelled to the church in style in a beautiful 1920s Rolls-Royce.



Church Ceremony at St Mary’s, Batcombe


The ceremony took place at the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Batcombe, a stunning Grade I listed limestone church. With its tall ceilings, historic character and stained glass windows, it’s an incredible space for a traditional Somerset wedding ceremony.


Meanwhile, my assistant Lucy Billingham spent the morning with Chris and his groomsmen, capturing some relaxed and fun moments as they got ready.


Despite being a winter wedding, the day brought clear blue skies and bright sunshine — some of the best weather you could hope for in December.



Countryside Couple Portraits in Somerset


After the ceremony, we made the most of the light by heading a short distance up the road in the Rolls-Royce for some couple portraits along a family member’s farm track.


With the sun starting to drop and the countryside stretching out around us, it created a beautiful setting for relaxed photographs of Alice and Chris together. These quieter moments are always a great chance to step away briefly from the celebrations while still keeping everything natural and unposed.



Village Hall Reception in Batcombe


Back at Batcombe Village Hall, just a short walk from the church, the reception was already in full swing. Having everything so close together made the day flow effortlessly, allowing guests to relax and enjoy each part of the celebration.


The atmosphere inside was warm and lively, with everyone excited to celebrate together.


After dinner, Alice and Chris had organised a surprise, singing waiters who performed a set. It had everyone on their feet, singing along and set the tone perfectly for the rest of the evening.



Evening Celebrations


Following the performances, the celebrations continued with cake cutting and the first dance, leading into a packed dance floor and a brilliant evening atmosphere.


It was the perfect way to end a winter wedding, full of energy, laughter and genuine moments shared between close friends and family.
