I always love working at the beautiful wedding venues Bath has to offer, and the Temple of Minerva is a rather special one. Hidden inside the Botanical Gardens in Royal Victoria Park, just around the corner from the entrance, the Temple is closed to the public for weddings, making it a beautiful and private setting for your wedding day.

The Temple of Minerva works beautifully for weddings throughout the year, but I particularly love summer weddings here when you can have the large doors open and make the most of the garden surroundings. The venue can accommodate up to 100 guests, with both indoor and outdoor seating, creating a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

On the right-hand side of the Temple, you also have access to your own lawn area, which is perfect for group photographs, confetti, lawn games and a large marquee. It gives the whole day a beautiful garden-style feel, while still having the incredible architecture of the Temple itself as a backdrop.

I love how open and airy the Temple of Minerva is, with its beautiful Bath architecture, large pillars and colourful plants and trees surrounding the building. There are plenty of opportunities for photographs without the day ever feeling too formal or staged.

Wedding photography at the Botanical Gardens

I also love making use of the Botanical Gardens themselves for wedding photographs. Even on a busy Saturday during the summer months, we can usually find some quieter moments to wander through the gardens together and capture some relaxed couple photographs.

Just a two-minute walk across the road takes you to the Great Dell, a secluded woodland area that is perfect for natural, atmospheric photographs and a little moment of peace and quiet away from the busier parts of the wedding day. It’s another firm favourite of mine for couple photographs.

The combination of the Temple, gardens and woodland gives you lots of variety without needing to travel anywhere. You can have photographs surrounded by beautiful Bath architecture, colourful gardens, open lawns and secluded woodland, all within a few minutes of each other.
