Meet the Photographer
Hello, I'm Jacob
A Bristol, Bath & Beyond Wedding Photographer
I’m passionate about capturing fun, vibrant, and natural photographs that truly reflect the energy of your day.
Whatever feels authentic to you feels authentic to me. I would be honoured to join you on your journey and tell your story with honesty, heart, and genuine authenticity.
Why I love Deer's Leap Weddings
I photographed my first wedding at Deers Leap back in 2018. The couple getting married had actually met at another wedding I’d photographed the year before, just up the road in Devon, which already made the day feel special before it even began.
From that very first Deers Leap wedding, I was hooked. The venue has such a relaxed, welcoming feel, set within beautiful grounds and thoughtfully hosted by Heather and James. The handcrafted wooden steps and ceremony area give the space a really natural, personal feel — it never feels staged or overly formal, just intentionally designed for people to celebrate properly.
What I really love about Deers Leap is the ethos behind it. After spending months searching for a wedding venue themselves and struggling to find somewhere that could truly adapt to their vision, Heather and James decided to turn their family home into Deers Leap Weddings. That philosophy still runs through every wedding held here. Each celebration is completely individual and genuinely reflects the couple getting married.
Over the years I’ve photographed everything here from live bands and relaxed receptions, to crisp quizzes, dart tournaments and intimate, low-key gatherings. No two Deers Leap weddings ever feel the same — they’re always personal, creative and full of character.
Being able to stay on site for the weekend adds to that feeling. Couples and guests arrive on Friday, set things up at a relaxed pace, unwind in the hot tub, and ease into the weekend. By the time I arrive on Saturday morning, there’s always a calm, unhurried atmosphere — one that slowly builds into a proper party later in the evening. It reminds me of the feeling you get on family holidays, where everyone settles in and feels completely at home. It’s something I’ve never experienced in quite the same way at any other venue.
I still get genuinely excited whenever a Deers Leap wedding enquiry lands in my inbox. It’s a venue that consistently delivers meaningful, joyful celebrations — and it’s always a pleasure to photograph.
My documentary photography style
My photography style is documentary-led and focused on storytelling. Rather than directing the day, I quietly observe and capture the moments that naturally unfold — the laughter, the connections, the in-between moments that often mean the most.
When guidance is useful — for couple portraits or group photos — I keep it gentle and relaxed, allowing space for real interaction. Folly Farm weddings work beautifully with this approach, as the venue encourages a slower pace and a strong connection between people and place.
The result is a wedding gallery that feels honest, atmospheric and true to how your day actually felt.

Why choose Deer's Leap
If you’re looking for a venue where you can throw a relaxed, laid-back party without restrictive rules or rigid packages, Deers Leap Retreat Weddings is hard to beat. It feels wonderfully remote and tucked away in the countryside, yet it’s still easy to reach by car.
Having exclusive use of Deers Leap Retreat for the entire weekend is a real selling point. There’s no sense of being on a wedding conveyor belt, no rushing in and out between other couples. Instead, you’re given the time and space to settle in, make the venue your own, and celebrate at your own pace.
If you’re drawn to an authentic country wedding experience — one that reflects your plans rather than someone else’s template — then Deers Leap is an great choice.
