What a day! Sam & Tom married at the beautiful Hinton St Mary Estate in Sturminster Newton, Dorset, this August. The day was incredible. I started by meeting Thomvision, the videographer, and we both went in to say hi to Sam and then Tom. Sam was surrounded by her closest friends — her hens — with several subtle nods to her hen party, including a bride cowgirl hat, glasses, and polaroids. They brought so much energy, blasting plenty of nineties and noughties throwback tunes while getting their hair and makeup done. Once Sam was dressed in her beautiful gown from Freda Bennet, we invited her dad in for a first look — it was emotional, heartfelt, and a joy to photograph.
When I arrived with Tom, he was almost fully dressed in his black-tie outfit, looking very dapper alongside his groomsmen. They were adding the finishing touches to the ceremony marquee and reception room, and ensuring the bar was fully stocked for the party ahead. I took the groomsmen down the driveway to capture some candid portraits of them suited and booted.
The ceremony took place on the idyllic grounds of Hinton St Mary, outside in the marquee. The small ceremony was beautiful and filled with emotion. Afterward, we organised a confetti line, which then led into the next part of the celebration: a Chinese tea ceremony — a traditional ritual where the couple serves tea to their elders as a sign of respect and gratitude, symbolising the union of two families.
After this, we headed to the pond for some fun group photographs, and I left Sam & Tom to mingle with their nearest and dearest while I scouted some locations for couple portraits later in the day. I then returned to capture some fun, candid portraits of their guests.
The speeches and wedding breakfast took place inside the tythe barn, followed by drinks and dancing long into the evening. It was such a pleasure to capture your day, Sam & Tom — thank you for inviting me.
